MEET THE TEAM
Here are the team members and a little bit about them so you can get to know us.
Head of Electrical

Ellora Morgan Wilson
Mr. Robert Franz
Position: Engineering Advisor
Mr. Franz is the head advisor for S.W.E.T. Without Mr. Franz this program would not be here. Mr. Franz vast experience in STEM programs have dramatically helped spearhead our engineering projects. He brings tremendous experience to the table. His mentorship is pivotal to all facets of S.W.E.T.
Position: Project Manager/Head of Electrical
Rachael joined the team in the beginning of its third year. She was co-team leader of the electrical team. She wants to become a bio-medical engineer and hopes to go to Texas A&M at College Station . She was a bass clarinet section leader in the Southwest Marching Band.
Position: Driver/ Public Relations
Deidre has been with the team for three years. She has been a huge part of the team and an asset to have when it came to getting sponsors. Deidre was also captain of the all girls CyberPatriot Team. She is now attending St. Philip's College.
Daniel joined our team at the beginning of his junior year. He has been a great asset and quickly adapted to the electrical environment and was considered the right hand of the head of electrical. Daniel was also in Math UIL here at Southwest High School. He got a full ride to Texas A&M at College Station.
Position: Head of Design
Sean joined the team at the end of the first year. This past year he was head of the design team and has crafted a masterpiece for us to build. Sean has a passion for music.
Position: Head of Public Relations
Adriana joined the team at the beginning of its second year. She had been a huge asset in the PR department writing several elegant and well written letters and emails to many important figures such as the mayor. Adriana was also a part of HOSA and the Nanotechnology Team and has experience with Electrical.
Position: Project Manager
Ronni had been on the team for two years. She is hoping to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in calibration engineering. She attends Kettering University. She was ranked 5th in her class, was a varsity volleyball player, in Rocket club, Theater, Ballet, and was president of the Alternative Energy STEM club.
Emily was a previous member who was apart of the team for a year. She is a big part of the electrical team. Emily was a varsity cheerleader and was also on the STEM robotics team.
Mr. Oscar Castaneda
Position: Past Advisor
Mr. Castaneda is the Calculus I & II DC, Statistics, and Pre-Cal teacher. He is the bridge that all students are looking for between in the classroom and real world application. He is a previous advisor and was a wonderful addition to the team bringing not only himself and all his knowledge, but also the Alternative Energy Engineering Team.
Position: Head of Mechanical
Ryan has been apart of the team since day one. He has become well versed in mechanics and can put the car together with his eyes shut if he had to. Ryan is was part of the nano technology club. He is also attending St. Philip's College.
Position: Head of Electrical
Isaac has been apart of the team for three years now. He is extremely dedicated to the program. Isaac enjoys playing soccer when ever he's not charging batteries. He wants to become an electrical engineer and is attending St. Philip's College. Isaac is also in the Machining program at St. Phillips College.
Jesse joined the team towards the end of the first year. Jesse is a great asset and gets things done. Jesse was also part of the Mariachi program here at Southwest and is in the Aero-space program at St. Phillips College and was also VP of Film Club.
Tristen joined our team towards the middle of this year. He is an outstanding student and is cirtified in Arc Welding and in Mig 3F. Tristen has a lot to offer.
Fred had joined our team in its second year. He has three years of hands-on experience in welding and is now certified in 3G Structural Steel Certification and F3 Mig Certification. He has been a great asset to our team and made our metal frame possible. In the future he hopes to start his own Steel Fabrication Shop.
Mr. Kurtis Koop
Position: Past Advisor
Mr. Koop is a previous advisor and mentor of S.W.E.T, he was one of the founders of the program and a huge asset to the team. He taught the students how to weld,fabricate, and use a plasma cutter. He brought a remarkable amount of knowledge and vast set of skills that he patiently taught to each and every student.
